Frank D. Kelash, age 80, of Foley, died Thursday March 29, 2007 at the St. Cloud Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Monday, April 2, 2007 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman. The Rev. Thomas Olson will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Military Honors provided by the Foley American Legion and the Gilman VFW.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 pm Sunday at the Foley Funeral Home in Foley and 1 hour prior to services at church. Parish prayers will be 6 pm and the Gilman KC's will pray at 7:00pm Sunday at the funeral home.
Frank Kelash was born December 11, 1926 in Alberta Twp., Benton Co.,MN to John and Angeline (Bower) Kelash. Frank was a US Army Veteran during WW II. He married Mary Jane Kmitch June 1, 1953 at SS. Peter & Paul's Catholic Church in Gilman. He had farmed in Alberta Township and also worked for St. Cloud State University of 20 years. The couple had owned and operated Frank and Jane's Grocery Store in Gilman for 16 years.
He was a member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, Gilman, where he was a Eucharistic Minister for many years. He was a member of the Gilman Knights of Columbus, Immaculate Conception Council 9261; the Foley American Legion Post 298; the Gilman VFW Post 1558; the Gilman Senior Citizens; and the National League Postmaster's Auxiliary. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, dancing and making deer sausage. Frank also enjoyed traveling in his motor home.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane, Foley; sons and daughters, Greg, Foley; Dennis, Royalton; Kevin (Coralin), Oak Park; Jeff, Foley; Henry (Roberta), St. Cloud; Ann Kelash, Ogilvie; Amy (Randy) Strehlo, Foley; Tim, Sauk Rapids; Galen (Shelly), Hinckley; brothers and sisters, Olga Kelash, Mpls; Annette Skajewski, Aitkin; Margaret Szafranski, Foley; Eleanor Grachek, St. Francis; and Marie Smelter, Rice; 15 grand children and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Donald and sister, Geraldine Chmielewski.
