In 1972, she started as an aide at Dr. S.G. Knight school in Randall and soon became the 1st grade teacher, a position she held until retiring from teaching in 1983. Hedy wrote “I truly cared for the students I taught and have great memories of my career... I hope my legacy will be that I have touched the lives of those that I taught in some way.”
Since retiring, Hedy loved to spend time with her grandchildren, watching them grow up and teaching them. She also enjoyed baking, scrap booking, bowling and listening to ‘Partyline.’ Hedy was very active in St. Peter’s Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married.
